m creating a site. it needs to have shopping cart and other database thing on it. i dont know no programming. but i design sites using html and flash.

is php a tool to achieve the goal?

what school do you suggest to have my shortcourse enrolled?

anybody doing php tutorials? how much?

PHP is ok to use. Some will suggest Python/Django but PHP is more mature.

It really needs programming or maybe a little if you plan to use pre-made ones. But you should understand how "Sessions or Cookies" works to know the basics for security.

Also a database back-end is a must. I suggest MySQL or Postgresql. Both are open source but MySQL is a bit faster than Postgres. SQLite also is ok if your data/tables will not reach 100,000s of records.

Hello dude.. i do web development using php... maybe i can help you to build the shopping cart. if it is for commercial i can do it. but if you want to learn it by your self. i suggest you can learn it in the net.. the best things to get resources.. there a lot of information for php... you can try to go in w3schools.org/php/ or try to google it. if you are interested just pm me.

You really need a background in programming. Even more, http is a stateless protocol which makes it even more difficult.

I would suggest that you sub-contract the dynamic part of your website to a professional.
Or use a complete made pre-made open-source package (such as oscommerce) and just modify the looks.

ah ok. i really want to make my own. but i dont want to go back to college and take a programming course. what short course in programming i need to enroll that discusses it from scratch?

You don't need to go to back to college to learn programming.
It is a skill, and skills are not learned in school.

You don't teach a painter how to paint.
You could teach him the new kinds of paints to use in his painting or the available brushes in the market. But not his strokes and style.

Just like programming. It is a matter of how you think and the way to solve the problems. You only will learn in books/school on what function/lib to use but not how to incorporate and integrate the solution to the problem.

If you are really interested, there are thousands of programming tutorial in the net. Just learn how to google them.
