Northwood was the older P4 core which had 512MB L2Cache
Prescott is the new CPU Core sa P4 which has over 1MB L2Cache and works @ a higher clock speed and requires a mother board support for the socket
Some earlier Prescotts run on mPGA 478, the newer ones run on LGA 775.
Intel is planning to scrap the Prescott architecture altogether, as they are having serious heat problems with it.
