Great news! Dream Theater has just recently announced last April 29 that they have a new member in their family and that is the one and only Mike Mangini from Extreme (hip today) and Steve Vai.

Brief background, he branded as one of the fastest drummers years ago.

For me, its a good thing that DT moved on without Mike Portnoy even he was really really good and has set the bar for DT but I believe this new chapter of DT is getting more exciting.

Welcome Mike Mangini!!!!

woohoo!! mike mangini!!

my fav drummer, 1st knew about him back in g3 '96 (vai,satch,EJ).. then i learned more about this dude, he has quad limb independency.. wrote a book about polyrhythmics & odd time signatures, has become worlds fastest drummer a few times & 1st one to break 1200 strokes per minute, teaches at berklee & makes the most insane funny faces when drumming... & btw, mike portnoy is a very good friend of his.. one time during DT's concert, mike mangini was at the audience watching, when mike portnoy glanced at him, mike mangini pulled down his shorts to throw offbeat mike portnoy's drumming, mike portnoy just laughed at him & his efforts to sabotage mike's timing..
