That's kind of a subjective question to ask, but no matter how you look at it, even if you know how to use PHOTO SHOP or any other digital painting program, but you don't have the basic skills in drawing, painting, sketching and other traditional arts related to painting then you can't produce top-notched artistic work.
Paint Brush or Photoshop or any medium for that matter, are only tools for creating, bottom line is that do you really have the skills to draw or paint. I for one when i conceptualize character design i often begin with pencil sketch then scan it for color production in Photoshop or Painter for that matter. It's hard to visualize directly in your PC rather doing it with preliminary sketch. Like they say the pencil is an indispensable tool in the life of an artist.
I appreciate sketches/ art works made by hand....coz its ur natural skills...and it should be appreciated than using drawings in softwares.
I very much like to draw first in pencil of course, then finalized it in kure color combine it with water color pencil..
I can just imagine my college works......( reminiscing)
