P4 Old Rig Getting Slower

My friend had a P4 2.8 gig s478 cpu, 256mb ATi radeon 9250 agp VGA, 1 gig pc3200 ram, asus mobo, 160+80 gig IDE harddrive. She experienced a lot of problem when using Photoshop CS 2 @ 300 dpi rendering and other CS2 programs because it's getting slower and slower even in just transforming images it tooks 20-30 seconds to move. WTH!

She used her PC everyday for almost 4 years na. Can you guys help me by explaining what happen to her rigs? Naa ba life span ang clone pc? or there's some solution para ani like cleaning the whole thing?

It could be possible that there are several running programs/virus/ad-wares.
A fresh reformat on that system should breath new life to it.

yup gi try namo format last month but still slow. but we try ang gi work niya sa other pc with the same specs although lga775 lang ang cpu pero oks man. she used norton internet security.

the harddrive was bought last january sa PCX ang 160 gigs mao sab ang system drive niya. this morning we added 2 gigs (2 x 1 gig) Kingston value ram but gamay ra gihapon deperensya unlike sa first gamit niya.

try the same task on another better PC if will show any improvement in Photoshop CS over that PC
