Future of Philippine Basketball ----
Well, these guys are tall, Japeth Aguilar, Gian Chiu, Sam Eman, and Greg Slaughter.
But we are still not sure whether they will succeed in FIBA Style basketball, first barometer if they will succeed
is taking a look at this following criteria, Ranked 1-4
1. Wingspan - This is the most important aspect of a basketball player to be successful.
2. Mobility - How fast can he move.
3. Talent - Basketball I.Q. of course is very important.
4. Athleticism - Well that's the beauty of tall players, they don't have to be as athletic as the small players to be
successful in basketball, though of course, they still have to have some athleticism in them.
( Example : Bill Laimbeer - He can't even dunk a basketball and he's 6'11" , but he's a very successful
NBA Player.)
For me, the WINGSPAN of a player is one major barometer for their success, Long Wingspan enables a player to do a lot of things on the floor, first,
1. Dribbling - Look at Shaq, Duncan and Garnett, that's what separates them from bench centers, they have
looong wingspan, that's why the ball can't be easily swipe by defenders when they're posting
down low, they can protect the ball with their body because of their long wingspan. Look at
T-Mac, Kobe, and Magic Johnson, they are 6'8", 6'7" and 6'9" and look at how they dribble the
ball so well because of their looong wingspan.
2. Rebounding - Do I need to explain?
3. Shot Blocking - Same as above...
4. Defense and Stealing the ball - That's what the Iranians did to us, with their Long Wingspan, our offense just
froze to death!
Well, that's just my observation whether our future tall players like Japeth Aguilar, Gian Chiu, Sam Eman, and Greg Slaughter would be successful in their future FIBA Stint with our RP Team...
