whoa and I thought it was an isolated case. our houses' circuits went berserk and blew a fuse. our school's router was also busted. watta lightning!

    hehehe...lightning storms!!!

I always disconnect every electrical appliance during lightning/thungerstorms.
My PC had been a victim not once but 3x. First, the HD and the modem were casualties, 2nd... the mobo and power supply got it, 3rd...HD and modem again. Damn those lightning strikes! I actually saw my PC sparked somewhere at the Power supply box.

My CLI phones also got hit 3x. now I have 3 damage CLI phones!!!

Now, I always make it a habit to disconnect. As in, tang tangon gyud ang electrical plug ug ang mga modem ug LAN
Labi kung I'll be away for a long while.

    di raba covered sa warranty...

kung naa ka sa ground floor pwede ka mag barina ug mga 1 meter then connect a copper rod to a #10 copper wire and connect it to a outlet that has an available 3rd prong so that when the next lightning strike comes dili ma boom shakalak!!!! ang computer. Also you can use a UPS instead of the AVR, but pls connect the UPS to a 3rd prong outlet that is ground to the floor, to get another measure of safety para kung mag lightning storm at least UPS ra ma matay dili imong computer which may include the data inside the harddisk. Also with dealing sa telephone line some UPS's already have a surge suppressed modem line that can ground the electrical spike but as always only if you connect the UPS to a third prong ground system.
