    bro share lang ko gamay...

Golden retrievers are known as fiercely loyal, extremely intelligent, and fun-loving family dogs. If you are thinking about purchasing a golden retriever puppy, however, there are a few points that you need to keep in mind.

Golden retrievers are known as people dogs. Sure, they love to romp and play with other dogs, but they would much prefer to spend time with their owners. If you don’t have the time or the energy to invest in this type of dog, you might be well advised to seek out another, less demanding breed. But, if you are ready to be worshipped and adored by a canine friend, then a golden retriever might just be the perfect dog for you.

Of course, most puppies are totally adorable, so what difference should it make in the puppy you choose? There are a few things you can look for and consider when choosing a golden retriever puppy. You need to determine why you want to own a golden retriever. Will you train him to hunt or perform in a show ring, or do you just want him for a companion and a family pet?

There can be a vast difference in the pricing of golden retriever puppies. Puppies who are born to dogs belonging to neighborhood breeders will typically not be nearly as costly as puppies who come from a long line of champion dogs. It is a good idea, however, to buy a puppy from someone who also owns that puppy’s parents. You can get a good idea of how your potential puppy’s temperament will be by observing his parents. If the parents are family pets themselves, then there is a good chance that your puppy will have an easy-going loving nature. If, however, the parent dogs are raised to be aggressive animals, you might want to reconsider buying if you are looking for a dog that is child-friendly.

If you are interested in training your dog to be a competitive hunter or show dog, you really need to research the backgrounds of the parents and see how their bloodlines check out. Good hunting and show dogs typically pass these traits on to their offspring. A good breeder of these types of dogs will show his knowledge in the training and use of his dogs for hunting and field competitions or dog shows. Good bloodlines and excellent breeding environments command higher prices for puppies.

Even if you are only looking for a family pet, you still need to pay attention to who the breeder is. Does he basically run a puppy mill, with many female dogs, and maybe even several different breeds? Does he keep his dogs caged all day and night, only interacting with them to basically feed, water, and clean their cages or pens? If this is the case, you might want to steer clear of this breeder. Not only do his dogs lack good socializing traits, but they could also be inbred, which can lead to lesser intelligence, birth defects, and genetic abnormalities.

If you know someone who already owns a wonderful, well-behaved golden retriever, don’t hesitate to ask them where they acquired their dog. Contact the breeder to find out when he might have more puppies available and ask to be put on his waiting list.

If you are paying a significant amount of money for a golden retriever puppy, you should expect to receive a health certificate that covers their hips, eyes, and even hearts. Hip dysplasia can be a problem for this breed, as well as PRA (progressive retinal atrophy). Check to see how many past generations of your puppy also have health certifications.

Unless you are going to breed your dog, you will need to plan on having him or her neutered or spade. You will still need to decide whether you prefer a male or a female. Typically, males are more energetic, high strung, and aggressive than females. This is not always the case, however.

When you are trying to decide on a new puppy, pull him away from the rest of the litter and notice how he reacts. Does he immediately try to get back to his brothers and sisters, or does he revel in a little freedom to explore on his own? If you plan on hunting your dog, tease him with a pheasant or duck feather and see how he reacts. If you pick the puppy up, does he immediately want to get back down and away from you, or is he content to stay with you? Can you get your puppy to come to you when you squat in front of him and clap your hands or whistle and call to him?

Paying attention to the breeder, the puppy’s parents, and the puppy itself, will give you a good idea as to what type of dog he or she will become. Once you’ve selected your puppy, the fun really begins!
