Default Group warns subservient Supreme Court

    11/07/2008 | 07:23 PM

MANILA, Philippines - A constitutionalist on Friday said that if recent decisions of the Supreme Court on controversial cases are used as indicators, then majority of the justices are not independent.

This was the opinion of Fr. Joaquin Bernas as he talked to reporters during the re-launching of the Supreme Court Appointments Watch (SCAW).

The SCAW is a coalition of law groups and civil society monitoring the appointment of persons to judicial positions.

During the forum, Bernas expressed concern over the looming prospects of a Supreme Court which would be filled by appointees of President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo before the end of 2009.

2009 is the year when seven out of the 15 justices are due to retire.

Mrs Arroyo, whose administration has been hounded by allegations of numerous scams and scandals, is set to end her term on 2010.

    Lets get the ball rolling....

SCAW!!! Hehehehe...Funny SCAW...They might be another group founded by Communist Party of the Philippines(CPP). Walang nang lokohan dahil tayo tayo lang dito.

This is like a CPP's KARAPATAN. Which is known to people a bias one and consider as traitor group(Because they are pretending that they are human rights advocate, but at the end they found them the human right violator's protectors, the CPP-NPA).

SCAW!!! I'm sure this is just another group of hatred or injustice.

    To SCAW:

Anyway, before watching the Supreme Court judges....Watch your backyard first....If you are unable to have a good and clean backyard then you don't have the right to criticize.

Ika nga: "Bago ka maghanap ng dumi sa iba...tingnan mong maigi ang mukha mo at mas madumi pa yan"

Yes i'm trying to raise my point that this early some groups/people are already making noise about the replacement of those retiring Supreme Court Justices. The president is the sole appointing authority to appoint the replacement of this retiring justices. This early also it would be better to know who are this people/groups trying to question the prerogative of the president, are for they for the betterment of the Supreme Court or they have their own personal or hidden agenda. Anybodys opinion is welcome !!!! Lets do it....
