kana kung makakaya pud imo pc ug run ana nga game... hehehe.
i've heard nga dx10 daw ni siya nga game... tan-awn ta lang kung makadagan pa ba ang atong mga dx9 nga cards ani... hehehe

i read that dx d10 runs on dx10 based GPU cards...........i hope mu compatible ang game sa dx9 and dx9 cards

atay kaayu nag mga chip makers.........they endorse in making games that will run with the newest current gfx card in the market.....para dali mahalin ang mga games

back to the toipc........ i thing dual processors/core2 duo are not yeat practially suitable for desktop computing..... unless they are used for servers and graphics editng jobs..... like rendering movies and graphics animations

the problem is....... techno junkies <hard to admit... including me> wants the fastest rig even though wla gyud kaayu significance.... according to my Systems Resource Management class......some companies with IT infrastructure dont know waht to prioritize when it comes to hardware and software aquisitions.... maximizing the use of current hardware is neglected.....cau imagine ......i labay na ang pc bisag wala pa nafinish ang warranty..... same sense in a household and gamer's scale......

money is a important entity...... companies who profit from us like games and hardware companies want to squeeze it out from us by introducing new technologies.....making us want it for trend reasons.....

it may not be considerable since naa may daghan richness sa forums.......but im trying to point out that whether
you have the money or not...... its important to remember our primary needs of why we need the pc. and money is not earned easily..... although you earn the money easily ...where it came from and the people who earned it for you ,earned it hard

    so much for vanity

DX10 games will run on DX9 hardware, DX10 "EXCLUSIVE" games wont run on DX9 hardware.

atay kaayu nag mga chip makers.........they endorse in making games that will run with the newest current gfx card in the market.....para dali mahalin ang mga games
Dunno where you got that wrong analogy, Its not the chipmakers or the game developers are to blame. Its called technological advancement.
There are certain DX10 instructions that are very hardware dependent ( if you are very much interested on those feel free to read DX10's SDK http://msdn.microsoft.com/directx/sdk/ )

back to the toipc........ i thing dual processors/core2 duo are not yeat practially suitable for desktop computing..... unless they are used for servers and graphics editng jobs..... like rendering movies and graphics animations
    Yes and No.
Dual core systems is far from a necessary tool for just desktop and word processing use, however H2 of 2007 we would surely see a large number of games that are already multi-threaded and expect Q1 or 2008 for all games to support multi-threading.

the problem is....... techno junkies <hard to admit... including me> wants the fastest rig even though wla gyud kaayu significance.... according to my Systems Resource Management class......some companies with IT infrastructure dont know waht to prioritize when it comes to hardware and software aquisitions.... maximizing the use of current hardware is neglected.....cau imagine ......i labay na ang pc bisag wala pa nafinish ang warranty..... same sense in a household and gamer's scale......
Kana its called personal discipline, but if its your passion to spend and money is not an object to you then go.

Dunno if this is still entirely related to the thread, but thanks for the words of wisdom.

^its coz of the earthquake in taiwan maybe that's the reason why you're experiencing slow connection to some sites.
    OT:
would you guys recommend core 2 duo for light video editing? my rigs a 3.0 Ghz w/ HT. would this be ok? I'm still undecided if I'd be purchasing RAM or buy another mobo which would support DDR2 before buying more RAM. is there a big difference between DDR and DDR2?

nope, there is not much performance difference gain if you upgrade from ddr to ddr2.

Incorrect, It depends on several facors 1.) If its an AMD or Intel system 2.) Depends on the FSB running 3.) depends on how low the latency is into comparison

    @Junpei

If you have the money to get a C2D then a good performance boost to upgrade to that CPU, even a E6400 would have more than a 70~100% increase as compared to that 3.0Ghz HT of yours.

Now regarding the DDR2 il try to explain the following

1.) On current AMD CPU architecture, the memory controller is inside the CPU die which means that latency plays a huge factor over bandwidth and DDR1 has far better latency than DDR2, DDR1 latencies go as low as 2-2-2-3 while DDR2 modules that can do 3-4-4-7 are very hard to find, but 4-4-4-10 modules are easy to get but priced so high.On intel systems its bandwidth over latency the better bandwidth the memory has the better it is for intel systems even a 5-6-6-18 would is still perfect for intel systems.

2.C2D's have 3 different memory bus speeds out of the box, depeding on your motherboard choice you get 533,667,800 and higher(266fsb,333fsb and 400fsb respective)
Now you may notice that C2D's run at 266fsb out of the box and might question that running it at higher speeds in already overclocking, thats incorrect. There are memory dividers for that for example running a 2:3 memory divider results in a 266CPU fsb while giving the memory 400fsb.Running C2D's at 266fsb and memory at 400fsb gives a performance boost but nothing that large, but running it at 400 sync mode (1:1) memory divider gives HUGE performance boosts, this is the scenario the DDR2 is FASTER than DDR1.

    3.) Latency placed into comparison
On AMD systems that use DDR2, it would be more beneficial for them to have a lower fsb and tighter timings over high fsb and lose timings, for example at 400FSB Intel systems are comfortable at 5-5-5-15, while on AMD systems we can faily keep the FSB lower say about 380fsb and have 4-4-4-13 timings to perform equally or even faster.

And regarding C2D overclocking, 99.99% of all E6300's and E6400's can do atleast 400~500fsb with just aircooling, and some E6600's and above dont even reach 400fsb regardless, but still a huge % of the E6600 and above can still hit 400. C2D motherboards that use the P965 chipset such as the Gigabyte P965-S3 and DS3 models are rated at least 400fsb out of the box, pairing that with a DDR2-800 means a E6400 running at 3.2Ghz =)

well of course...thats indeed true for intel systems, i was stating that relative to my amd system. hehehe
