Ok so much for Hubert Webb..
What about the side of Tony Boy Lejano, the son of actress Pinky de Leon.
I saw her interview this morning with Karen Davela and these is some of her stories..

-After the massacre happened..Tony Boy always reminded the other family members to always locked the door before going to sleep basin sila napud daw ma biktima..He said that he heard nga mga akyat-bahay daw nag buhat ato that's why he's so prudent and always ensure nga locked daw ila mga door..

-While Mr. Gatchalian (silingan daw ni sila Vizconde) was walking home gikan sa ila Lejano, he was picked up by some policeman and gi tour daw nila ang subdivision while gipugos ug pa angkon sa iya ang crime..One of the policeman man daw was Gerardo Biong...Upon learning the incident Tony Boy went to precinct to visit his friend and told the policeman that it was impossible for Gatchalian to commit the crime since nagkuyog daw sila at the time of the crime..Ms de Leon said nga if guilty pa daw iya son, then ngano ni adto pa man siya sa presinto, if he is guilty he could have escaped since he knows nga the authority is very near in solving the case kay nasakpan na gud iya kauban..

-When the NBI raided their house in Paranaque, the agent was not interested in finding Tony Boy.

-Upon learning that his son is one of the suspect, she confronted her son..But before he asked his son, judging from the way he acted, she already knew that he wasn't guilty..Tony Boy told her mom that he can't do that kind of crime..he said he didn't know Alfaro, Webb, Estrada..etc..The only guy he knew was Mr Gatchalian..

-When Tony Boy was arrested he was brought into the room where Hubert and his father was ...They introduced each other while crying since that was the first time daw that Hubert and he met..

-Ms Alfaro stated that he knew Tony Boy more than Ms de Leon..But when asked to identify him..she passes him 3 times before she got it..

These are some statement made by Pinky de Leon..
I know she's an actress and she could have put some acting on that interview but like what I said earlier..You just knew when people is telling a lie or telling the truth..
And in my humble opinion...she's telling the truth..

i saw that interview kenites and so the reasonable doubt remains..I could see the truthfulness of her statements, luuya toni boy 15 years just because he was a drug addict and I dont know why the nbi had to pin the crime on them..i dont know if they are really innocent but well, the statements of the accused and their family creates doubt as to their involvement..read the SC decision and it was well written..
so as how justice bernas sees it

Fr. Bernas on SC decision on Webb case

I have read the ponencia of Justice Roberto Abad and the concurring opinion of Justice Conchita Carpio-Morales.
I must say that at least two things impressed me about what they have written, and these have created in my mind what I would call reasonable doubt about the guilt of Hubert Webb. This, even with the dissenting opinion of Justice Martin Villarama.
First, I am particularly impressed by their discussion of the tainted credibility of the prosecution’s star witness. I, too, would tend to doubt the truth of her claim.
Second, I find their evaluation of Webb’s alibi credible. I realize that lawyers usually say that alibi is the weakest evidence, but it can also be strong evidence when supported by established facts.
I recall that the court rejected the alibi in the Larrañaga case where the accused had claimed that he was in Quezon City when the crime was committed in Cebu.
But the Webb case seemed very different. He claimed to be in the United States; he had foreign airline records to prove it; and he also had Philippine and US immigration records to support his claim. These are not easily manufactured or bought.
Considering all these, I asked myself how I would vote in the case if I were the judge.
My instinct is to say that I would rather have a guilty person go free than to have an innocent person suffer life imprisonment, especially if that person has already spent 15 years of his youth in detention.

^^ That is a perfect example of an OT and an Ad Hominem!

Back on topic, in totality of the case, there were doubts on the prosecution's evidences. Then that itself is enough to acquit the accused.

I observed that more than 2/3 here respected SC's decision. If anyone can answer, what made SC decide to deliberate this case en banc? What circumstance made the case exceptional that it made the SC became a trier of facts?

People here presented good arguments, some uneducated, some lambasted the SC, some idolized Webb. This is what democracy is all about, heated arguments, no violence.
