Credit cards are good, if you know how to handle them. In the US, you actually NEED credit cards. When getting a mortgage or buying real estate, they need your credit history. Same here. When you buy a house or a car, you need to prove to them that you know how to handle debt. There's good debt and bad debt. I say get the former. Pay your credit cards on time and in full. I like using my credit cards (I only have 2) for big purchases like laptops. The pay easy schemes of 0% interest are great! I mean, seriously, who wants to cough up Php 80,000 for a Sony Vaio? If you get it on credit at around Php6,000/month for a year, it's a pretty good deal. You earn points that you can exchange for miles or gifts. It's wise handling of finances, that's what it is.
ONE THING'S FOR SURE. NO ONE, AND I MEAN, NO ONE HAS THE RIGHT TO HARASS ANOTHER PERSON OVER CREDIT; basically OVER ANYTHING! It's basic courtesy. You always have the right to protect your dignity. As a person. As a citizen. If these people want you to pay up, they should do so in a manner that still respects the other person - professionally and with decency.
but statistics show that more than 80% of credit card users don't pay their balance on time and full.
so, its better to use cash as much as possible or maybe checks. debit card is also an alternative.
these are by far better ways to stay away from collection agent harassments.
^OT naman ta
the issue is the practice of harassing debtors. glasswingedfaeri is right. wala silay right to harass.

it's not easy, harassing people who don't have enough sense of responsibility to pay their debts. it's like this, what if your employers "forgot"/"decided" not to pay you during paydays? won't you do some harassing yourself?
but i agree, people should draw the line. if the agent is polite while reminding you of your dues then its ok. if they twist your arms a bit, still ok. pero if mabali na ang bukog unya di pa jud dutlan og kauwaw, harassment na na
i'm a loans officer and luckier than those collection agents. if my clients don't pay their dues, i just send them 3 demand letters. the lawyer will send the final demand letter. then i foreclose their properties. simple as having sleepless nights![]()
