Talisay City, June 22, 2024 – Today, skateboarders from all over the region gathered at Talisay Skate Park to celebrate Go Skateboarding Day, an annual global event dedicated to the skating community, encouraging enthusiasts of all ages and skill levels to share their passion for skateboarding. This year's celebration also marked the 30th anniversary of DC Shoes, a prominent name in the skateboarding world.
In collaboration with Grind Philippines and supported by Primer Group, DC Shoes Philippines hosted a day filled with thrilling competitions and vibrant performances. The contests included Best Run, Best Grind, and Longest Ollie, with up to 50,000 pesos worth of cash prizes and a range of products, including DC shoes and Grind apparel, up for grabs.
The atmosphere was electric as skateboarders showcased their skills and competed for the top prizes. The event also featured live performances by local artists such as KALIHOODS, BOKI, KINGSPADE, ENRICOREEMS, NYOR, POINTBLANK, DYHA, and SHORT, adding a lively soundtrack to the day's activities.
Jan Marron Villapando, Marketing Supervisor of DC Shoes Philippines, shared his enthusiasm about the event: "Our goal today is to celebrate skateboarding, introduce new people to this incredible sport, and strengthen our local skateboarding community. We hope that through events like this, more people will discover the joy and freedom that skateboarding brings."
As the sun set over Talisay Skate Park, the spirit of camaraderie and passion for skateboarding was evident. Go Skateboarding Day 2024 was a resounding success, leaving participants and spectators alike eagerly anticipating next year's celebration.
