Readily discarded clear plastic umbrellas are just the thing when you're caught off guard by a shower.

It rains a lot in Japan, people cannot live without umbrellas. Plastic umbrellas are available at 300 yen. Japanese love brand-named items such as Louis Vuitton, Gucci or Chanel more than anything but why do they use these 300 yen plastic umbrellas? ROLEX watch on the wrist holding a 300-yen plastic umbrella? Isn’t it kind of odd?

BATTLE ROYALE is shown in the UK. It was said that the audience got surprised when they saw the Japanese plastic umbrellas in it, saying “What in bloody hell is that clear umbrella?� I had never experienced such a thing. I thought I was living out a scene from The Birds or something. I got that clear plastic umbrella and carried it with me day and night. People laughed at me, but then they'd say, "That's a really good idea."

I heard somewhere that men in Western countries do not use umbrellas, is that so? What about in the UK which rains a lot? And mind you, it’s also a big hit there considering the many complaints of people with those plastic umbrellas of theirs, getting LOST.
