So, those who are planning to buy D40x, wait for D60 to comeout! lolz...
From KenRockwell.com
might be the same type of body as D40x
Forecast
The Nikon D60 might appear on Thursday, January 31st, 2008.
Rumors suggest the D60 is a D40 with the D80 sensor and the updated electronics of the D300.
As you've read in my D3 and D300 reviews, these new electronics give significant upgrades in real picture quality over the last generation. This last generation of Nikons, the D2X, D200, D80 and D40/x, came out in 2003 - 2006. In case you've been asleep, it's already 2008. Today, only the D3 and D300 use the latest innovations.
If true, the D60 will have significantly better better colors, better grays, better highlights and better shadows than any previous camera.
I'd expect:
10MP. 2.5 FPS.
Better metering, like the older D70 used to have.
Sensor cleaner.
ADR, which means photos actually will look better for most people than with older cameras.
Probably the same superior color palette of the D3 and D300, which means the D60 will be able to create significantly better images, if you like wild color, right out of the camera.
If this is real, I should get my hands on one Wednesday night. The D60 has not yet been announced. If you have something to shoot today, get something that exists today. See my page on obsolescence for more.
I find Ritz takes orders first the day it's announced, then Adorama a little later in the day, and Amazon usually takes weeks until they accept orders.
