I'm trying it right now. Don't know if there's anything new aside from the look.

Oh, I didn't notice it earlier. They have a YM gadget at the sidebar where you can drag someone from your contacts for quick and easy access. I guess this is nice.

for presentation raitng, its very good (for me) its still a messenger with fancy effects

It's far too early for me to make any judgment on it. Sure it blends well with the Vista's Aero interface, but the features on the Beta is far too limited. Looks promising though so can't wait for the final release.

as i say in the xp vs vista threads, regardless which is better, vista will be the mainstream sooner or later. If yahoo discontinues the development of the older messenger (i cant see the point of developing both in the future) then this will be the only ym messenger to use.

eh, I don't use any of that flashy crap. Kopete all the way. If I wanted themes, huge annoying smilies, loud annoying sounds that all these clients have, I'll go play Viva Pinata and have some fun. IM is for communication for me, everything else is for teenagers.
