you can't. why not borrow/buy a usb-to-ide cable and connect it to your cd-drive so that you can use it like a portable usb2.0 optical drive. barato raman na ron... around 400 pesos kung bnew.
kung identical imong 2 ka PC (i.e. same proc brand, board has same chipset and disk controllers) you can just clone the 1st PCs hdd and put the hdd clone into the 2nd PC. this might also work for dissimilar PCs iff you didn't install any drivers (i.e. all drivers are MS drivers).
Yes you can boot the CD-ROM from other unit if your motherboard supports network boot.
unsa diay model sa imo mobo? basin naa feature para network booting.
how bout remove lang nimo sa ang CD room nya taod nimo sa pikas pc it thinks thats the easy way.
mo support cya master.....MSI akong mobo...pro dle lng ko kbalo unsaon...Originally Posted by spookey

network boot is possible, basta naa ka'y script from the server pc.. AFAIK..
coz kasuway ko ani.. but not necessarily can control the hardware, especially the cdrom's behavior..
basin d.i naa.. try searching sa google...![]()
afaik, network boot is only possible when you pc has a nic that supports a boot rom (similar to what dumb terminals have). in addition, there has to be a server somewhere on the network that runs the bootstrap protocol (bootp) to provide/issue IP addresses to bootp clients. in addition, the pc's bios should support booting from the network.
booting a pc from another PC's optical drive... without a network... hmmm... i highly doubt it.
in your present setup bro...i don't think so it is possible...kanang imong Lan interface..has two useful features...Wake-On-Lan ug kanang Network boot.If your BIOS is set to enable Wake-On-LAN, and ur pc is off, it will turn itself on when it receives a packet containing 6 bytes of FFh followed by 16 copies of its Ethernet address. This can be used to help force reinstalls of the operating system in the middle of the night, when nobody's there. You can boot over a network using PXE sa imong network card... PXE is a kind of DHCP extension, so all you need is an up-to-date DHCP server and a TFTP server. mao na gi-ingon ni bro blade4638 above. the only time naka try ko boot from a network cdrom was kadto work pa ko...we have this very expensive thing called a cdrom server and one feature niya is you can have a boot cd in one of the drives and have a pc boot from it.
mao ba mga master
hehe...tnx for d very informative information mga masters...heheh..
