Yesterday, 24 December, my constant search for good stories brought me to a large mall filled with so many people.
I sat by the side of a so-called Christmas Village watching children play inside that little "village." I happened to sit beside a father on the look out for his small children inside that little make-believe.
The he asked me "how much money do you think President George W. Bush has in his pocket right now?" I said I had no idea.
He then continued "right now I have only twenty pesos because I paid one hundred fifty pesos for my three children to play inside the village."
"But why," it was my turn to ask, "did you choose to play. Why did you not buy food instead?"
"Food?" He was amazed. "Do you really think food is a better deal over the happiness I am now seeing in my children?
I choose this time to remain silent.
When it was time to leave, I saw him with the extreme difficulty in walking, as he was about to escort his children out of the village. He was polio.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
