Linksys WRT54G Wreless G broadband router. help !

ok ,,ok,,, stupid me went to grab one right away a Linksys WRT54G Wreless G broadband router .... im on globe broadband ,with a modem/router model prolink hurricane 9200 ! i wanted to set up the wireless router so my other laptop (asus eee pc) can connect to my pc (pentium 4 on xp )!

i followed each step ,,,, got to admit ,,i was puzzled near the final step to pick ant internet connection type,,,,dunno what globe connection is if its static i.p ,pppoe ,pptp , L2tp or Teltra cable ........ i picked the automatic config DHCP...... the next thing i know it would say "no internet connection..... i did all sort of investigating to find out ....my modems driver or settings have been erased...so i had to disconnect my new wifi router & re connect my globe modem/router back & grab hold of my prolink drivers & settings to get back my internet connection .

in conclusion : each time i try to set up my new LINKSYS WRT54G Wreless G broadband router in my pc it seems to erase my internet connection!!!


has anyone successfully installed it & connected to the net?? please im awfully desperate ,step by step guide or even an ediots manual to it ,,, help is greatly appreciated!!

after you setup...did u save those settings in your router?

yes ,then it tries to save it then after it tries to connect to the net.....but no connection! has linksys have lotsa glitch up against prolink 9200 compared to netgear routers? should i ran back to the shop & swap it for netgear?

yeah, you have to swap Netgear. So far theirs no problem during setup. Just bring all the items from Linksys (box, manual, cable, cd). Please dont forget your resibo.

hmmm.. have you tried contacting globe? do they need the original lan mac address from your account for authentication? if so try setting the router to clone your computers mac address.

so netgear is compatible with globes modem which is prolink??

i dont want to go swapping again then it doesnt work nasab!

well cant help you here, m on a smartbro connection and using netgear. All I can say for the netgear wireless G is that its plug and play.

try this:

plug the rj-45 cable from your prolink modem/router into 1 of the 4 LAN ports of your linksys router, instead of the WAN port. this way, the prolink modem/router will take care of DHCP & the linksys router will act as a switch/access point for both wired & wireless access. no DHCP conflicts. everybody happy.
