    Default Racial Slur against Bisaya

Pimentel condemns ethnic slur in one of film fest movies (11:50 a.m.)
    http://www.sunstar.com.ph/static/net/2007/12/28/pimentel.condemns.ethnic.slur.in.one.of.film.fest. movies.(11.50.a.m.).html

SENATE Minority Leader Aquilino Pimentel Jr. slammed the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) with great disappointment for its negligence in scrutinizing movies that took part in the on going Metro Manila Film Festival.

According to Pimentel, an episode in the film "Sakal Sakali Saklolo" to him is conveying wrong message to the Filipinos.

He said it is seemingly denigrating the use of the Visayan language, the language widely spoken in the Visayas and large parts of Mindanao.

Pimentel specifically cited a portion of the film in which a grandmother was telling a nanny (yaya): "Bakit pinalaki ninyong Bisaya and apo ko?" (Why are you rearing my grandchild as a Bisaya?)

The mother butted in telling the yaya: "Speak to the kid in Tagalog. Parang Pinoy. (So that he grows up like a pinoy)".

Pimentel called on the producer of the film to promptly take steps to rectify the error.

He said such conversations smacks of an ethnic slur to non-Tagalog speaking Filipinos.

He pointed out that scenes like this can offend "the sensibilities of the Visayan and other non-Tagalog speaking citizens by making them feel as if they are less Filipino than the Tagalogs. It creates useless hatred in the nation."

"Sakal Sakali Saklolo," with Judy Ann Santos and Ryan Agoncillo in the lead roles, is an official entry to the ongoing Manila Film Festival. (CPB)

Default Sakal, Sakali, Saklolo film - an anti bisaya film

posted in a bulletin by a friend -

This was forwarded by Ilonggo friends.
Let me share with you this message
    from Senator Aquilino Pimentel, Jr:
    (edited from mobile telephone text
    language):

    “Sakal, Sakali, Saklolo film should
rectify anti Visayan message. Lola to
    yaya: ‘Bakit pinapalaki ninyong Bisaya
ang apo ko?’ Mom to yaya: Speak to kid
in Tagalog ‘para Pinoy’. Visayans are
    not Filipinos?”

“Yes, in this movie the character of
Juday says that it is necessary to
speak Tagalog and not Bisaya “para
maging Pinoy”. This is racist and
    discriminatory. Not fair to non-native
speakers of Tagalog. The movie implies
that the Bisaya are not Filipinos and
Binisaya is not a language spoken by
    Filipinos.

    “The scrptwriter, director, producer
and Juday should be disabused of their
    anti-Bisaya sentiments. The Bisaya -
    Cebuanos, Waray, Ilonggos, constitute a
very large segment of the Filipino
population and cannot be dismissed as
    not Pinoy from decentralized Imperial
    Manila."

Ang guys, besides, we speak better
English than them -- just imagine
    trysikel, bysikel, bebelgam, tom,
noodels??!! The list could go on, you
    know!

If a maid fumbles with her Tagalog and English....BISAYA ka, di Pinoy...but when Pacman struggles with his pidgin' English in a post-fight interview....AMIN 'YAN, PINOY YAN ! Angkonon dayun sa mga Tagawg, ticker tape parade pa in the streets of Manila, shouting PACMAN MABUHAY ANG PINOY. Leche!!! Bisaya na si Pacman kaliwat taga Pinamungajan mga unggooya mo!!!

Lest you forget, Bisayang Dako si Pacman from GenSan with roots in Pinamungajan, Cebu...so are the rest of our current world boxing champions, Nonito Donaire, Jerry Penalosa, Zee Gorres, etc.... so my question to that old faggot Jose Javier Reyes is: Which ethnic group brought so much fame and pride to this miserable country both in boxing and the performing arts ? ....not Juday of course, she can't even sing and hold a note!
