Marketing Excellence, Shoppers Choice Awards etc. (Bogus or Not)?

Hi to all,

Anyone here owning a business ever received an offer for an award (Phil marketing excellence awards, shoppers choice awards) etc.?

I was sent a fax by one of these companies saying that my establishment had "won" an award.. i just needed to pay 7k or so pesos for facilitation or whatever reason it was.

There would be a ceremony in waterfront announcing the winners and we would get plaques of recognition.

I wonder if these companies really did a survey before giving out awards or do they just hand pick those that they know will pay to get an award.

Can anyone shed more light into this matter? Many companies boast receiving this award (pang bragging rights kuno) and post it on their ads.

While that may be an effective way of turning heads... i'm questioning the practice itself.. the selection process, etc.

Personally, i think this is all a sham. I havent seen any surverys being conducted and most companies just keep quiet about this because they need these awards as a "medal" to make them seem more "humot" to people who dont know whats really going on.

What do you guys and girls think?

Looks bogus to me...after all, if one really deserves the award, why would he be required to pay something to receive it?

Completely bogus! We received a letter stating that we have won the Shopper's choice award and made us pay 5K. It was fine actually but we then realized the bogusness (if there is such a word) of it when another letter came informing us that we won the Marketing Excellence award and made us pay 6K for it.Â* I mean it is suppose to be an award right?!Â*

The Philippine Marketing Excellence Awards and the Shopper's Choice Awards are legitimate award giving bodies that awards companies who excel in their marketing strategies and services. Some of the awardees are RCTV36 and Mobile Media.

However, there are people who want to take advantage of other people and use the names of these award giving bodies to gain profit. Incidents like these should be reported immediately to the police.

Our company also received these awards... for 2 years straight.. at first we were okay with it since 5k/6k isn't that much to pay for the award you're getting. This is really legitimate... not bogus. I've been to the awarding ceremonies and big companies also go there... gillamac's, norkis, etc...

But just a few days ago, I received another fax from Philippine Marketing Excellence for this year's 2nd batch awardees which included our company. Do you know how much their subsidy fee right now is? P12,000!!! Are they out of their minds? Demanding that big amount... anyway, my company decided to turn them down. I don't understand why they had to increase the fee. I don't know... makes me think now that they're just giving out awards to make more money... I've been to their awarding last october and their fee then was just 7k... it's not even the end of the year yet, ni increase dayon sila ug P12,000? Grabe sad.

Anyway, ok raman siguro unta ni sila if they don't ask that much... try to negotiate the fees nalang if you can. The awards are still very helpful in the company's advertising and marketing.

How can a 12k award be bogus while a 6k award is legitimate? I don't get ur logic there. You are right about the awards being helpful sa marketing and advertising... and thats precisely why companies will keep quiet about the award being bogus. But the point is... where are the surverys? how do they judge who wins the awards? and why ask payment for it? arent awards supposed to be free? why 6k or 12k? what is that amount for anyway?

To me this is a scam and a MONEY MAKING SCHEME DISGUISED AS AN AWARD FOR COMPANIES WHO NEED MARKETING AND ADVERTISING BRAGGING RIGHTS. I wouln't be too proud winning these awards... much more bragging about it. It's time someone speaks out regarding this issue as it is plain deception and dishonesty to consumers. We should know better!

Can you provide evidence that these companies actually did surverys on the companies that they are giving awards to? Who were the respondents? Who has the right to say that this or that company has won an award? From the word "Shopper's Choice" I assume they surveyed consumers.. yet I have not heard or seen from anyone any survey forms...

My company has been offered one of the awards above, yet I doubt that the nature of the award itself.

Many other companies would rather keep quiet and just pay so they can use it as bragging rights... No one else talks about it cause they themselves dont want the public to know that the award they received was just a product of orgranizations making a quick buck from them.

Bugos, its supposed to an award, ther should be no payments needed. those guys just need money and are taking advantage of business, especially those new to it. and later they increase the payments needed for an award!? just to show how corrupt those people are and taking advantage of businesses. i mean would you really pay 6k-12k for a piece of plastic or metal with your company name or names written on it

@vipvip: These companies have been operating for 3 years or so already. Don't you think they'll be sued by now if they're bogus? They're involving big big big companies in these awards... All I'm saying is, they are legitimate and legal. Period. Paying 6k is just like paying a 1 day 1/2 page newspaper ad but it's more helpful. And... The subsidy fee is to help them in their expenses during the awards night.

But what's making me question them is the way they do their business... I think their popularity is getting to them and now, they think they can DEMAND as much as they want since people are willing to pay.. or are they They're taking advantage and now comes making more more more money out of it. Mao nani nakabati nila.

They are legitimate award making bodies but they're taking advantage of their popularity.
