Default confused with movie file to DVD

    Hello,

I'm using Nero SmartStart Essentials to burn an avi to DVD format. My confusion lies in this:
I have an AVI of Part 2 of this movie which is around 2hrs 40mins. The file is 700MB in size and was converted to DVD Video on a 4GB disc with no problems.
I acquired the Part 3 of the said movie which consisted of TWO (2) 700MB files lasting 2hrs 30mins (combined).

However, when I tried encoding the 3rd movie moreklamo siya nga I'm trying to fit a 4.8GB movie into a 4.5GB disc. This doesn't make sense to me that a movie which is shorter in length cannot fit into the disc. Unsaon nako pagset sa Nero so that it will adjust the movie so that it will fit on the disc?

All functions work on a 30 day trial for the dvd burning software so this isn't a licensing issue. I have access to all the options in the software.

found the solution. ang data bit rate niya pa ubsan diay. I noticed that my 700mb file had a lower bitrate.

The 700MB AVI files you have may have been using a highly compressable format such as DivX/Xvid or H264.
When burning them to become a normal DVD using Nero, Nero will convert it back to MPEG-2 format then burns it into the DVD.
Upon reconverting the resulting size may exceed to 4.7GB, that is why it does not fit into one DVDrom.

What you could do is use a different software to convert it to MPEG-2 and set the quality and rate to fit it into 4.7G then burn it in NERO. Nero will not reconvert the MPEG2 file so no file size changes occurs.
