Soft Dev or Web Dev?

hello mga dudes,,,
ask lang ko bah asa man mas okay i venture gud soft or web dev? sa inyo asa man??

first dinhi sa ato sa cebu, then philippines then considering daun inertnational..

unsa inyo ikatell?

Imho:

freelance web developer (maoy kusog; earn extra cash) - focus on php, python, or ror, and ui enhancements like ajax, flex 2, flash, etc...
international - systems programming - language - c++, java, c#; platforms - j2ee, java ee 5, dot Net

So kung imo gyud goal is to work abroad, then focus on systems programming na lang daan.

Ah mao vah. thanks pud dude.. will mao man pud gud unta ako plan bro. coz ngita lang ko ug unsay nice na language na pwede nato magamit for work abroad.. and base pud sa mga ako nakit an na hiring is .net naman gud sah. hheehh mga smart client application... mao ang survey lang ko. heheh.

maorag wev dev ang future bai...classic example is the microsoft .net framework....microsoft invest so much just to create a whole new breed of framework that would cater web based development...maorag ingon ana cya ka importante. IMHO

Naa sad ka pili-an ani nga duha bro. Either Java Enterprise ba ka or dot Net. Pili ka either diri ka sa Java nga platform independent and ma-integrate ug daghan nga open-source tools, or diri ba ka sa dot Net nga exclusive sa Microsoft tools w/c means not free.

Both have very good support and kusog sad ang hiring.

i think everything going to the web, all these online transaction etc.,you dont need an installer to deploy web apps unlike systems softwares ,web is very flexible with ajax and ror, even in the open source, php and also for flash. dont limit yourself to one technology, its good to know more than one, microsoft and open source. web is the future(in my opinion). i was a system programmer at first also, so you cant neglect the potential of system programming.

eerr... web development has never been my strong asset when it comes to computer programming. so i'll stick to where i'm good at and thats business applications using smart client technology..para pud murag web..

well for me at first.... i started from software development for doing some small systems using Visual Basic 6. Nung student pako... although i excel with it... but when i start to OJT i start to venture web. Since i like now start doing it coz i have also basic knowledge in design, and as of now medyo.. kusog2x man gud pud mag work ka for web. kay maka ingon pud ka na easy money rah. heheheh pero din dali ra pud ka makakita if kamao lang gud ka. heheh... But my planned is if time to time... although web application is not just a very huge to do. Not unless if you really do a really huge website application. So atleast if ever... mag praktis ko back ug software for smart client tech. dba maurag combinations napud na sya ug soft and web development. heheheeh

I think it's better if you look at it as your choice between frontend and backend development. Client (soft) or Web development has the same concepts on those terms. If you get to work on large teams developing either client or web applications, you'll most likely be assigned to either of the two.
