    Default Remembering the *** Pistols?how they influenced the punk era

    The *** Pistols were an iconic and highly influential English punk rock band, formed in London in 1975. The band originally comprised vocalist Johnny Rotten, guitarist Steve Jones, drummer Paul Cook and bassist Glen Matlock (later replaced by Sid Vicious). Although their initial career lasted only three years and produced only four singles and one studio album, the *** Pistols have been described by the BBC as "the definitive English punk rock band." The Pistols are widely credited with initiating the punk movement in the United Kingdom and creating the first generation gap within rock and roll.

    kamao gamay but a very sloppy one, sige kayabo mao bitaw i unplugged sa iya bandmates kasagaran inig live performances, we also dont know basin naay ga play og bass sa background to cover sid's mistakes...

    only *** pistols knows kung ni play ba siya og live. but in general Sid was renowned for his lack of ability to play the bass.

    I think he was really trying his best, sa ako lang opinion mao siguro ang hinungdan sa iya depression.

    Rotten himself appointed Sid Vicious to play bass despite the fact the he didn't have any skills whatsover. Malcolm Mclaren once said that if Johnny was the voice of punk then Sid was the look of punk. That's why he was obliged to join the Pistols...somehow it was really disappointing in some kind of way..just for sensationalism and the scandal of it all...

    Sid Vicious maybe the worst bassist but then again punk rock wasn't all about skills and technicalities. the thing that propelled them to the mainstream(if you can call it that) was their devil-may-care attitude and punk for punk's sake. i remember a critic once stated that all they(the band) really needed was one album(nevermind the bullocks..) to say all the things they need to say..or something to that effect.

    their story is documented on tons of punkumentaries(the great rock n roll swindle, the filth and the fury, etc) although the funniest/ most brilliant account of the band's antics would be the snippet on 24 Hour Party People where they played at the legendary Lesser Free Trade Hall. Tony Wilson described the experience as "Nothing short of epiphany!". There were only a handful of peoplel(42 actually) but almost all of them became legends in the british music scene.

    @balutman

    what was funny during that Lesser Trade gig was that Mick Hucknall of Simply Red was present...although Rotten himself claimed that he had 100 percent visual during that said 1976 event and he didn't see no Hucknall.
