What can go wrong with ear wax ?

1. Wax can plug up the ear, causing hearing to be reduced, and a full feeling in the ear. This is called an "impaction". About 2-6% of the population has an ear wax impaction at any time.
2. Wax can trap bacteria in the ear, leading to infection. This is usually painful or at least itchy.
3. Ear wax can obscure vision when the doctor looks in your ears, possibly hiding a dangerous process.
4. Ear wax is the most common cause of hearing aid malfunction

i had this a problem a couple of months ago, couldnt hear well...i also had an infection because i had water stuck in my ear..My dOctOr does wonders, he's located at Diaz bldg, kanang tupad sa Cebu DOc...lOOk for Dr. Gary Rivera...

there are people who have dry cerumen (earwax) and there are those who have the sloggy thing. usually ang ma-impacted are the mixed type. where it can cause conduction disturbances leading to decrease hearing, it also traps harmful bacteria that might cause infection in the middle ear which is more dangerous than an infection in the ear canals.

u can always visit any ENT for auditory hygiene. e-suction raman na nila. it might be gilok & uncomfortable for a while but having a pro do it is better kaysa kaw lang doin a blind poking.

go to an ENT b4 it gets worse... they'll clean and irrigate your ear...

..P250 per consultation but Dr. Chan might charge greater than 250/ consultation..i'm not sure, i work from an insurance company and that's the charge..but i don't know about their services like irrigation, instillation or taking that impacted cerumen..if i happen to get the info, i'll post it here ok..til then!

..just talked with Dr. Chan's secretary and she said that the consultation fee is P300..and it may include services like irrigation, instillation and taking of impacted cerumen..hope this helps..Dr. Miel..i haven't contacted him yet..but i'll post the info once i have it..
