this was intel's dream when they courted ATI before, and AMD's EPIC WIN over intel when they acquired ATI.

acquiring ATI is one of AMD's biggest mistakes. They got mauled in both cpu and gpu after that.

but that what saved them on many countless times..

    for example..

according to what i had read,

intel is using the ATI Ringbus memory architechture on its processors.

meaning in every intel processor bought. they are paying a royalty fee to AMD.

and if it happened intel had acquired the ATI..

    MONOPOLY!

its not a merger but, its just using the patented technology from other companies... and in turn will give a good profit for AMD... Intel is just doing a great move here and executed this statement with style... "if you can't beat 'em... join 'em!"... kun ma realize ni na product, dako kaayo'g leap ni sa product sa intel and in return would reflect into their sales then to the profit... mas dako pa ni sila'g ma profit sa AMD... let's face it, Blue owns the biggest pie in the CPU industry... then kun kani I-adopt nila sa Ultra Low power like sa Atom na gipang gamit sa mobile phones & tablets. samot ug Sky-rocket ang market share ani nila... kay wide naman ang applications portfolio...

if we'll check ARM Holding, they sell the ARM Cortex Core technology for a royalty fee and they enjoy this monopoly of technology in terms of the ARM Cortex Core.

one of the product line from my previous company used the ARM Cortex Core on their microcontroller ICs and pays a royalty fee for the license to use ARM...

whatever that royalty fee is it ain't enough to pull them from the crap they went through for years after acquiring ATI. After almost a decade karon pa gani sila nakabawi gamay pero hangtod karon they are still recovering.

AMD suffered because they lose the CPU wars with intel, period! from the legendary C2D to the vaulted i 7xxx < that's why i myself hope for the ryzen > para naa napud competition..

the AMD fusion now called AMD APU will not be materialized without the ATI prowess on the iGPU processing..
OLD MACs ,< not the intel powered > had been powered by the ATI even beofre nvidia with its TnT | Riva was for the windows based cpu.

the ATI had been a great visual company before they were acquired by AMD..
after acquisition comes the problem chips.due to switch of management and vision?

the HOT HEAT : AMD ATI Radeon 1xxx and the 2xxx were beaten by the nivia FX6xxx and FX7xxx.

it is not until the Radeon 3xxx and up that AMD-ATI have gain a foothold.

it you look at the history..these cards Radeon 3xxx and all that comes after were in a very fast cadence compared to the AMD x86 and x64 cpu that were beaten in all segment from mobile to desktop , workstation and server segment of the industry.

and these Radeon cards stood their ground against intel IGP and Nvidia..

nowadays, if you ak for an entry level CPU , they will answer : AMD APU with Radeon Graphics.

the x86 processor is weaker than that of intel but the iGPU is very powerful.thanks to ATI Radeon.

and least we forget the then SONY PS, Xbox and nintendos were visually powered by ATI Radeons. and IBM Power PC..

now rumored to be powered by AMD SoC with Radeon GCN

when did they start losing? what year? AMD bought ATI in 2006. C2D was an innovation but AMD could easily counter that if they got the "money" for R&D instead they launched the first gen Phenoms and the fall started from there.

OLD MACs ,< not the intel powered > had been powered by the ATI even beofre nvidia with its TnT | Riva was for the windows based cpu.

as innovative as their APU is it ain't enough to generate money which AMD doesn't have

the ATI had been a great visual company before they were acquired by AMD..

exactly my point, problems started to arise in both their cpu and newly acquired gpu department after the acquisition

the HOT HEAT : AMD ATI Radeon 1xxx and the 2xxx were beaten by the nivia FX6xxx and FX7xxx.

the x1xxx are competitive, the HD2xxx which is their first gpu after the acquisition failed miserably.

it is not until the Radeon 3xxx and up that AMD-ATI have gain a foothold.

but they are operating on lesser money now cause they have to allocate R&D for cpu and gpu

it you look at the history..these cards Radeon 3xxx and all that comes after were in a very fast cadence compared to the AMD x86 and x64 cpu that were beaten in all segment from mobile to desktop , workstation and server segment of the industry.

Nvidia failed on fermi but they came back pretty quick. Failure is something AMD could not afford cause they lack the resource. So again money. They gambled on APU so nabahin na pud ang r&d sa cpu department nila.

and these Radeon cards stood their ground against intel IGP and Nvidia..

intel igp no question, nvidia? If nvidia gots beat they'd just shrug it off and move on to the next. You know why? Cause they can afford to lose.

nowadays, if you ak for an entry level CPU , they will answer : AMD APU with Radeon Graphics.

indeed APUs are popular in 3rd world countries. Not so in fully developed countries where the masses can afford better parts. As great as APUs are, they are cheap revenue. Main reason why Intel did not attempt to counter it with something similar.

the x86 processor is weaker than that of intel but the iGPU is very powerful.thanks to ATI Radeon.
My point here is, AMD gambled billions to acquire ATI. They are still recovering up to now. Domino effect.

    again, cheap revenue

I'm not even surprise. Even Microsoft and Sony uses ATI cheaps sa ilang mga console. If I'm Intel, I would use ATI's technology. Why would I spend in a new R&D if naa ang ATI nga nindot ug resulta ug barato pa. Simple investment
