After months of unconfirmed rumors, the follow-up to 2015’s smash hit has finally found its director in Juan Antonio Bayona.
For those of you who dont know J.A. Bayona, he directed 2007’s supernatural horror movie The Orphanage and 2012’s powerful, Oscar-nominated disaster drama The Impossible with Naomi Watts and Ewan McGregor. His next project is a fantasy/horror drama titled A Monster Calls, which stars Liam Neeson, Felicity Jones, and Sigourney Weaver, and opens later this fall.
Bayona was suppoesed to direct another major sequel, World War Z 2, but due to scheduling conflicts with A Monster Calls (currently wrapping at that time), the director decided to withdraw from Paramount’s zombie sequel. Since the departure, he had been a major front-runner for the directorial post in Jurassic World 2.
