Heh...I'd like to see how he'd react on how popular his masterpieces are turning out to be...

It's just interesting as to how people try to speculate too many theories over such little and simple things. Take the Mona Lisa painting for example. One descriptive explanation of this piece of work was that she was a wife of a local merchant and that her daughter just recently died when Leo took a portrait of her. Which explains why she wore the black veil and why she has that enigmatic smile of hers. Another speculation was that it was actually a portrait of himself as a women since it was believed that he was homosexual...-_-;;

Only he could give out the truth in this.

Well, art criticism and history is a respectable field of knowledge, though imprecise-- but then that would depend on the nature of data being dealt with and none of the sciences could deliver absolute truths.

I wouldn't categorize the theories put forth by such critics and historians to all be "fictional" as the term is commonly understood. A theory is based on the theorist's objective interpretation of the data available, to begin with. The theory with the greatest explanatory power-- which is almost always the one agreed to by the majority, if not unanimously, of other theorists of the same expertise- -is logically the most reliable --the kind that makes it into the pages of books of knowledge for the public, like encyclopedias.

Conspiracy theorists, by definition, ignore theories agreed by many. If they were medical doctors, only a few could take them seriously.
