There are 2 types of Rhinoplasty. open and closed approach. But i will be giving information more on the implants used in this surgery.

1. Silicon implants (most common) - commonly for a very long time. It has a lot shapes: the I and L shape and etc.

pros - madaling tanggalin if gusto mong i revise yung implant. like if gusto mong patangusin ilong mo.
cons - silicon is only being encapsulated by our tissue and there is a high risk that it will get infected easily.

2. Goretex implant (Expensive) - this is the recommended implants by plastic surgeons. almost nil rejection.

pros - This material is porous it means as the time goes by. yung mga tissue natin totobo sa mga butas na meron ang goretex that will result in strong hold and low risk of infection in the near future.

cons - if ou want to revise your nose then it will be hard since the tissue will grow from goretext itself and the implant will be hard to get. but if you dont have any plans on revising your nose then this will be the best choice.

3. cartilage (not applicable for augmentation) - harvested from patients ear, nose and ribs.

pros - very less chance of infection and no rejection at all since this is from your body.
cons - since this is from your body, this can be absorbed by our body throughout the years and may result to flat nose again.

I recently had a closed rhinoplasty. My plastic surgeon used goretex for augmentation, my own cartilage for the tip and he also do alar trim. I will be 1 week tomorrow.

Any feedback or additions on the information I provided? Or any advice for me to make my healing faster? Please give some reply. Thanks.
