Nvidia and AMD GPUs will work w/ Ubuntu... maka DL ra ta'g drivers ani nila did2's Ubuntu... used GPUs from both companies on Ubuntu and Xubuntu... used the HDMI port for the display only... haven't tried the sound though...

@butitoy, I tried the GF210 with cuda. after 2-3mins from booting, the pc turns off. then I tried to power on again, no display.
Should go higher than the GF210?
@ lloyd, nay particular model that within 2-3k price range?
^ dili ra ba ko suhito's prices sa GPU dha's atoa bro... but for sure, the entry level discrete GPUs like the GT 610 and R5 230 will do the job nicely... kaning duha, w/in the budget level man ni sila... or the GT 720...

if time permits me today, I'll download ubuntu 14.04 and try it with a GT630 nvidia card that I have. and give feedback...
