Traditional Art versus Digital Art?

Who's got the skills?

Traditional artists? whose tools of the trade are pencils, paper, graphite/charcoal, pencil colors, watercolors, acrylics, oils, pastels, etc...

or Digital artists? who use technology as the medium.Ex. scanner, PC, wacom pen, etc...

Who is the better or talented?

skill wise.. problably traditional.

but when it comes down to composition, color harmony...etc.. same lang. but it's subjective.

then again, It takes a certain skill to master a wacom. :P

both have pros and cons.

if traditional art,
- messy inig himo
- rich in color
- double ang effort kay if naay sayop, balik ka sa start, walay shortcut
- original, di mag lisod sa ownership
way maka copy except e-digitize (xerox copy/scan/etc)
- lisod makawat


if digital art, kailangan man pud makabalo og traditional drawing bisag basics lang..
- one must be computer savvy
- clean ang area nimo,
- editable (murag kag naa sa time machine, ma erase--undo or redo)
- dali ra ka mahuman
- kalas kurente but makasave sa printing and effort
- naa kay back up copy, but prone pud sa copy (libog na' kinsay tag-iya)
- easy makawat: kandidata sa pirated

ang pros and cons struggles na sa artist. lain2x struggles and risks kada medium. pero both nag-struggle.
so, it doesn't matter man tingale if kinsay better, traditional artist or digital artist.

i think, naa ra man sa kamot og mata.
If sa "Art"(work of art/masterpiece) jud mismo, di na mo matter kung unsa ang medium. ang important naay meaning or meaningful imong art. It is an expression shared. if maayong pagka wiris-wiris imong art unya valued and understood by many, it doesn't make you a lesser person. You become a better person.

kung skill-wise, aw siempre ang better or more skilled kay ang katong master sa medium. uncha pa man diayi...

kani nga topic, mura ra ni cya og painting vs photography. apples or oranges. akong gi-pili mangga og durian tiane kay lami.. bitaw , ang tinood kato tanan kay puros man lami!!!

trad..mas makita ang skill and creativity..mas actual rather than the whole manipulation concept in digital...
pero..zerk is correct on the subjective part..naa ra jud na if unsa jud imu medium..

i don't see the point of comparing both.... different medium different techniques... but both have the same objective.. to create a kick ass artwork

traditional artists are usually good at the traditional and digital arts. i dont know a lot of digital artists, that's why.
