That's creative work either you start making your own portfolio such as an online comic or paint other people's faces. Whatever you're call. It's helps your repertoire if you want to be a well-known paintor/comic artist/insert sub genre of art here. Like everything else you wont be an overnight celebrity and success won't open up to you unless you sit down and start making foundations. You have the intentions but don't have the experience yet even if you do have the talent and skill for it.
Just take your time. Spend one half of your time devoting to mastery. The other half with external things such as getting a job to pay the bills and materials for art.
I used to draw...you can always find free materials for starving artist online. Just have to tweak the search engines a bit and visit kickass and utorrent. There's ton of gold just make sure you dl the most popular one.
Andrew Loomis <- Andrew Loomis - Save the Books! I used to read this guy's advice. But I was in HS when I started being serious...until I said "Screw it, I'm a writer."
I've recently shifted from drawing crappy manga characters to just figure and gesture drawing. It's more fun. To me, that is.
I still draw but I doodle now.

Oh, forgot to mention. Anatomy and Physiology for artist. That is one of the greatest assets for references.
Always have references. You can't draw just from imagination though, You need to learn how to draw based from reality.
