Default What happened to the promises of these politicians?

I just wonder what happened to the promises that these politicians have during their campaign period. They promised that the people's welfare is their primordial concern. Yet here are some of them pursuing their own interests.

At the Senate, the president asked for the passage of around 28 priority bills but the Senate today is very much busy discussing the hello garci tape, again. As what Miriam Santiago stated yesterday, said tape was already discussed for so many times in both chambers of congress. What will they be doing will just be a waste of time and funds if they let themselves be devoted again with such issue.

If they can just start committee hearings and sessions on those 28 priority bills which is really for the people's welfare, then I guess they are keeping their promise. As for now, they are just using their positions to further their personal interest at the expense of the people. I don't think that is appropriate.

It's the people's concern? Are you referring to the Garci controversy? Well, have our legislators ever thought of dedicating their time in passing priority bills such as the Cheaper Medicines Bill? Is it not true that they have long forgotten dealing with problems concerning the public welfare? Health, education, defense. Aren't those the public's concerns too? And aren't those most important concerns of the public?

The right to information should yield to public welfare. We have all known the contents of that Garci tape. We have heard it for a long time. I don't want the Senate to be abolished because of disregarding the law (Anti-Wiretapping Law). I want the Senate to work on bills that will address our problems of hunger, poverty, etc. The opposition-dominated Senate is to blame if our problems remain unresolved by 2010.

The truth, as you would like to put it, remains unresolved because of insufficient evidence that the opposition has.

The opposition asks for truth to come out based on the allegations they present but they don't have sufficient evidence to prove their allegations. How can they prove of the "truth" that they wanted when they have so much allegations but no evidence to point out at all?

There are a lot of priority bills which should be discussed before the Senate halls. Instead, this opposition -dominated senate neglect the people's welfare for their own interests. A lot of public funds is wasted for every senate session and all we got is media exposure of these politicians.

Hello Garci AGAIN What is the Senate doing these days? .... I hope they gave much more importance to the discussion on the other bills pending - Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Law o di ba kaha ang Agriculture and Fisheries Modernization Act ... those were pending on the Senate, and is much of of substance to be discussed ug mas beneficial pa para sa katawhan. The Senate must move on ... do the most essential things first ....

It's time to move on but these politicians are the ones going back to the old issue. Too bad some of them are reelected for some unworthy cause.

P250, 000 every Senate session is spent and they will be wasting public funds just for this old issue. What a waste of time and effort! They should prioritize bills that should be given attention. As I said, it has been discussed extensively before. Discussing this again is just a waste of time.
