Leaded and Unleaded gasoline in the Philippines

There are lots of issues regarding the use of Leaded and Unleaded Fuel. They say that the Premium gasoline is Lead free. Then why the confusion and naming it premium and why not Premium Unleaded Gasoline. And why is there a Unleaded gasoline that really specifies that it is Lead free.

I want to start this thread to get the views and opinions coming from the lay men and maybe we can get answers from the DOE.

Premium gasoline is unleaded but they put/blend-in a lead-substitute substance to offer the same anti-knock and octane-boosting performance of leaded gasoline.

Each petroleum company have their own propreitary formula so I don't know what these compounds and how much they blend of it to their fuels.

All gasoline sold for general use is now unleaded. Premium refers to the octane rating, which is a measure of the fuel's ability to resist knock. Whether you should use premium or regular unleaded depends on your engine- generally a higher compression ratio calls for a higher octane fuel.
