Not sure if they have enough stories to tell about pre-X-Men Gambit—if this turns out to be another origin movie. Thieves Guild would be too short. Mutant Massacre is the best option but not for a solo film—though Gambit has a big part.

In all honesty, Gambit as my most favorite X-Men because of how cool his power is, and 2nd is Archangel. Its kinda sad that he wasn't given that much story line in the comic books.

I just don't get why a Gambit movie needs a $150 million budget. I you take into account the costs to market the film, they would spend more or less $200 million. Deadpool even only has a reported budget of $30 - 35 million.
