CEBU - Ten passengers of an Elf-type truck were injured when another truck hit their vehicle along Marcelo Fernan Bridge in Cebu on Wednesday, authorities said.
Several rescue teams from Lapu-Lapu City and Mandaue City came to help the victims.
Rescuers had to use a hydraulic speeder and cutter to help the driver of the prime mover truck, Emiliano Quingco, Jr.
He said he wanted to overtake vehicles in front of him, which caused the accident.
Armando Asentista, the driver of the other truck, said he lost control of the steering wheel when the Quingco's truck hit them.
Asentista's vehicle hit the gutter and was thrown into the opposite lane.
A closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage of Lapu-Lapu Maritime police showed the Elf truck moving slowly towards Lapu-Lapu City.
Behind it was a container truck, followed by the prime mover truck. The prime mover truck accelerated and attempted to overtake the two vehicles ahead of it.
However, the prime mover hit the back portion of the Elf truck. Its passengers were thrown out due to the impact of collision.
Quiangco will be charged with reckless imprudence resulting in multiple physical injuries and damage to properties. - report from Aiza Layague, ABS-CBN News Central Visayas
