because doc files are big and not compatible with all systems.
and being an IT student, it is very useful to be able to view my programs on the go.. but i can't afford smartphones.

how about a palm? a zire may fit your budget. its a basic organizer but you may view short files tingay in its memo.

there are java apps that can do that,
before, i used microreader and readmaniac,
now i'm using BookReader by tequilacat.

you can't just edit the textfiles though once you install it.
you have to re-install it if you want to place new text files.
