FOR allegedly attempting to rape his 10-year-old neighbor, a man will face trial in court for violation of Republic Act 7610 or the Special Protection of Children against Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act.
Assistant City Prosecutor Ricky Jones Macabaya found enough evidence to indict Allan Senior Mantalaba for violating the law.
Bail was set at P80,000 for the accused, whose case was resolved after he opted not to avail of his right to preliminary investigation.

The accused was arrested last Sept. 29, after the mother of the victim, Maika (real name withheld), reported the incident to the police.
RA 7610 defines child abuse as maltreatment of a minor, which includes "psychological and physical abuse, neglect, cruelty, sexual abuse and emotional maltreatment" and "any act by deeds or words which debases, degrades or demeans the intrinsic worth and dignity of a child as a human being."
In her sworn statement, Maika said she went out of her house to urinate past 11 a.m. last Sept.29.
When she walked back inside, she saw the accused with her younger siblings.
Mantalaba allegedly approached her and dragged her towards the bed.
He forced Maika to lie down and he covered her mouth with his right hand.
He held the girl's hands with his left hand.
"I struggled to escape from his hold but he was too strong," said the girl in Bisaya.
A female neighbor who noticed the commotion inside the house barged in and hit the accused with a tin can.
Mantalaba went out of the house as if nothing had happened.
"He sat outside and he continued to call my name," said Maika.
The neighbor and the girl locked the door and windows because they feared what the accused would do next.
"I am very afraid he will touch me. I'm afraid to see him because of what he did to me," said Maika.
