Warner Bros. Circling David Ayer for DC Comics’ ‘Suicide Squad’ (Exclusive) | Variety
With several unnamed DC Comic films already slated for release through 2020, it looks like one of those pics has been unveiled.
Sources tell Variety that “Fury” director David Ayer is the choice to direct “Suicide Squad,” based on the DC comic book series.
It is unknown where things stand in the dealmaking process as Warners would not comment, but sources say the studio feels Ayer is a good fit for the dark and edgy film.
Dan Lin is producing the pic from a script by Justin Marks.
The original comic series focused on a team of supervillains who were given a second chance by the government for redemption. The catch is that the mission they are sent on will likely end up killing all of them.
The group doesn’t include any major DC supervillains like the Joker or Lex Luthor, but the characters will likely have an opportunity to cross over between other DC properties and vice versa for non-Suicide Squad members appearing in this film.
Ayer is best known for his realistic and gritty cop dramas like “End of Watch” and “Training Day.” His much buzzed-about WWII pic “Fury” is bowing in October.

Warner Bros. dropped a dazzling reveal of their DC superhero blockbuster plan in a shareholder meeting Wednesday morning, announcing the ten tentpoles coming through 2020. Led off by Zack Snyder’s Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice, the DC cinematic universe will continue with Suicide Squad directed by David Ayer also in 2016.

also why Suicide Squad? lol seemed like WB was just picking out names out of a hat.

Yes. Suicide Squad isn't complete without Harley Quinn. And I think this is her movie. I would love to revolve the villain justice league into her. I think it's a great title but I'm not sure myself if they go with super hero names as titles. Probably naa shai subtitle like The Fall of Gotham or something.

subtitles. it seems to be the IN thing now. although Guardians didn't need any subtitles so...
also another thing about this movie I want to know is the rating. I think it should be R-16 at the very least.

I like the idea of Amanda Seyfried as Harley Quinn. She's got the looks, those big eyes and whistle bait figure. She would be perfect.
