Default Windows Notebook vs Apple iBook/Powerbook

I'm a medical student and I basically want to use this gadget as a mobile PC. I will used it mainly for documents, images, movies and music. I'm not after the gaming part 'coz my PC will handle it with no problems. My question is: Gaming (I know rare ang games compatible sa mac) aside and with the motives above, which is the better mobile computer for me? A Notebook? or An iBook/Powerbook? If it is the latter, which should I get? iBook or Powerbook? Can you guys give me the advantages of those? Thnx.

i'd go for windows notebooks... software availability issues & bang for the buck. of course we all know who steve jobs chose to make the powebooks...

kay ang apple IMO nagbayad ra jud ka sa premium (coz its an apple). But you'll be cool anyway so it's your pick

If i had to choose, i'll get a W2 just because of the slot loading DVD writer hehe

    cool factor - apple
stability (for ordinary users) - apple
    price - windows
    connectivity - apple

Sa windows, kinghangan ma techie ka ug gamay
but with the ibook, you can concentrate on what you originally want 2 do.
Remember ang G4 powerbook is pila na ka years na design and still gud enough. but the ibook, gi upgrade na. u can use it pila pa ka years nya dili ka ma ibog sa bag ong pc notebook mu abot. Sa pc, palit ka karon, 3 mos from now naay mas nindot mo abot. mura bag japanese car ba sa una na 2yrs change model dayon, ang imo 1 yr old car mo kara-an dayon, dili pareho sa benz ug BMW na same body for pila ka yrs. cosmetic changes lang.
performance-wise, unless power user ka like graphics, animation, video, or audio, both are actually overkill na but if your into those usage, mas stable gihapon ang apple. Windows XP SP2 has a problem with firewire. Naay mga high end na audio and video devices na mamili ug firewire chipset, kinghanglan texas instruments or lucent gyud na chipset. But sa mac, true plug and play 99% of the time. Most high end multimedia devices man gud designed for mac then gibuhatan ug drivers for windows, especially audio.

    games, forget the mac
for your usage, if you can afford the ibook, go for it, ug tangason kaayo bisag ang 40T nga ECS G733 na laptop ok na kaayo, but ug palit ka laptop na same price as the ibook, ad2 na lang sa ibook. if you compare displays sa ibook ug ang mga windows laptops, layo gihapon ang most windows laptop dont understand why. Naka compare gyud ko with 3 high end Asus laptops, ang usa W1 na 17", A 17" HP pavillion, akong gi pang setup for midi/audio recording, lahi ra gyud sa apple. lisod beya i compare ang lain cla ug control hands on. plus blema kaayo ang windows sa mga spyware ug virus, kay most of them are targeted towards windows. Nag panda antivirus with anti spyware ko on a windows pc, gi kaon ang mga installers sa programs, iyang gi consider as trojans!!! dili gyud na mo happen sa mac.
I tell u, if you are choosing between a windows laptop and an ibook, if similar price ra, dili gyud ka mag mahay sa ibook for years to come, but if price is a big consideration, then basin ok ang pc sa imo. Most laptops nga sa price range sa ibook 1.5 to 1.7ghz ra nya sa akong experience, kuwang ra for multitrack audio, at least 2ghz+ ang kinghanglan but sa ibook, okay ra kaayo. rendering time, paspas sab ang windows sometimes, but while working, rarely mag ungot ungot ang mac.
Ang upcoming generation of Mac kay intel na ang processor!
I've worked with both platforms starting 1992 with dos-based midi sequencing nya 1994 audio recording on a Apple LCII and quadra(wala pa ilang mac) but on my own money pc gyud ko kay big consideration ang price. But now with the prices of the ibook and new windows laptop, some windows laptop are a lot more expensive. expensive lang ang upgrades sa apple but in return you get compatibility tested upgrades, not like windows na you can add cheaper parts but dili diay kaayo stable like for example, add ka ug cheaper brand ram instead of maybe kingston, dako ug chance na magblema ka sa ram, but if you put high end rams like kingston chances are dili gyud ka mag problema, but then similar ra na in price as those apple approved rams
between same price ibook and windows laptop, ad2 ko ibook

Hmm... I'm eyeing for the new iBook you're refering to. ^_^ I'm just confused if I should really get the iBook or Powerbook. I'm just afraid that the iBook might easily be dirtied 'coz its all white and basing from my experience with an iPOD dali ra ma.garas ang white part. Same ba gihapon sa iBook? I also don't want to bring around something worth 100k+. I can spend that much but carrying a thing worth 100k is like carrying a couple of tons for me. That's why I'm eyeing for the 60-70k iBook para mas.gaan sa ginhawa and makasave pasad ko for future purchases. ^_^

hey if you can afford the powerbook get that its always better to get hte best you can afford coz you wont have to upgrade for a bit longer. Y dont you just go down to the istore and check them out As for the waiting for the g5 my bro made the mistake of waiting for it instead of upgrading last year when he was offered a newer g4 and has been stuck with the old titanium g4 which is dying on him from over use.there doesnt seem to be any sign of the g5 laptop (someone correct me if im wrong)
OT: Uy joel idol musta na u using a mac na? hows that firewire isue on randy's laptop? oh this is jays bro diay
