Listen up, selfie-lovers of the world. Sony has a new device that, it reckons, will take your self-portraits to new heights.
Boldly dubbed “the world’s best selfie smartphone”, the new Xperia C3 is a 5.5-incher with mid-range specs and a consummate Sony design that launched today in Taiwan.
A successor to the*Xperia C*(Sony skipped the C2 for some reason), the new C3’s most outstanding feature is its 5MP wide-angle front camera with a 80 degree field of view and a “soft LED flash” guaranteed to make you look your best, day or night. Sony packed several software features to enhance selfies, or PROselfies as the Japanese company calls them – the Xperia C3 is the first Sony phone to boast Superior Auto mode on the front camera, which picks the best settings depending on the scene, including HDR. You get the*obligatory beautification mode, and a function called Smile Shutter that does exactly what the name suggests, plus a few AR features.
Other specs include a 5.5-inch LCD display of 1280×720 resolution, a quad-core Snapdragon processor clocked at 1.2GHz, an 8MP rear-facing camera, and a 2500-mAh battery. The Xperia C3 exhibits Sony’s typical design traits, in a compact 7.6 mm body that weighs 150 grams, which is pretty good for a 5.5-inch device.
The dual-SIM Xperia C3 will launch initially in China, in black, white, and mint green, starting in August, with more global markets to follow.
