Are you happy with your work or shall I say career? Kung papili-on mo ug lain, unsa nga career inyo gusto and tell us why? Please also be specific sa new career para makita sa uban Istoryan good insights for career development.


I saw in another thread a lawyer who’s not happy with being one due to stress and restless days. Often times he deals with corrupt court employees. As much as he want to stop working [as a lawyer] he can’t for the future of his family.


What do you think kung papilion cya ug lain career? Somewhere he's happy and fulfilled? What would he choose?


And how about you? How about me? Here’s mine.


I’m an accomplished web design/developer. I’m on top of my game. But being a good developer entails keeping up with the technology which is fun but as you grow you get tired of chasing. While I earn a generous amount of income especially from my personal clients, it still doesn’t satisfy the financial needs especially when you want the best for your family. And the kids are growing too fast but the income doesn’t.


I’m already on the verge of switching careers with the help of my wife but if I could have turned back time I could have devoted all of my time and strength early on while still young and family was just starting. I could have been a very successful [real estate] broker by now.


Why brokerage? Because I see it’s potential especially with the growing Cebu City. Remember being in sales is rewarding if you work hard. The more you work translates to really huge income. Not to mention more time to have fun too!

Ok raman na TS. Daghan man ron nga lain2x unrelated professions nga nag Real Estate Broker. I think you can make it first as a sideline. Pero if mas dako ug kita imong pagka broker, you can make it full time.

Ako if given the chance, wala nalang ko na BSME... Diretso nalang ko nag BSEE from the start. The reason is, broad kaayo ang scope sa BSEE. Whether naa ka sa manufacturing, barko, power plant, oil and gas, aviation, etc... pero naa ka na assign as Electrical Maintenance, pwede raka maka switch2x ug industries kay almost all electrical equipments are the same (motors, generators, UPS, DCS / PLC / SCADA, etc..)

Sa BSME, specialized jud ka. Kung na assign ka sa Heavy Equipment, maglisod naka switch sa HVAC or to other specialization...

Advantage lang sa BSME, daghan opportunities or trabaho... so impossible jud within 1-2 years dili gehapon ka maka trabaho.

If mo shift mn lng ug new career, mag BSEE ko from BSME. Pareho mi ug nakita ni Sir Scott Bernard above. Ang BSEE if ma suhito ka sa core competencies ug related competencies thru exp & training, confident ka mo switch ug industries.

Sa BSME once naa ka sa usa ka industry or specialization, d safe ingnon nga pareho ra ang pikas. Dako jd kaayo ug kalahian. D nako motoo sa giingon sa akong maestro saona nag.skwela pako nga pareho ra dw tanan. Though naay general ideas nga pareho pero sa competency sa field, layo pa kaayo ug apason f mobalhin sa pikas industry.

I'm supposed to be a nurse kaso when I saw most of my batchmates na naglisud tawn sa bills, I became a callcenter agent.... Mejo lisud2 pud ang pagtigum these days kay daghan bayranun, so gapangita pakog other ways to earn... gapangita kog part time jobs... maybe being a make-up artist or tindera ug sud-an on weekends. but then dmd pa....

so akong gahuna hunaon is that I should be climbing the corporate ladder at my age na, I'll be working my a** off to get a managerial position. Im gonna be a boss one day! I gotta be a manager before I turn 32!

Happy ko sa akong career although wala ko'y kwarta karon, salig hapon sa parents, pero I know in the future makabawi ra lagi ko, patience is a virtue biya...antos lang usa ko karon.......

Kung ako'y papilion mas ganahan ko mahimong engineer kay choi kaayo, labina magdala ug steadler`` kaso di ko maayo sa math.

Dili gehapon ka boss ana mam... kay dili man na imong company, trabahante man gehapon ka.

Ang bad side sa being a on that position, dili na linear ang sweldo over responsibility ratio, rather hyperbolic or increasing na ang responsibilities, kasaba^ ug pang insulto compared sa pagsaka sa sweldo.
