DAVAO City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte will grill the operatives who raided a suspected drug den or shabu tiangge in Barangay Ilang, Tibungco District dawn of Friday to know why there is a 14-year-old boy among those killed.
The raid was conducted by the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG), Davao City Police Office (DCPO), and Philippine Drugs Enforcement Agency (PDEA).
"I would like to know everything. Kung unsa hitabo-a na ngano naapil ang bata? As to the supplies kung asa gikan, mag-istorya pa pud mi sa ato operatives ana. Ako sila ipatawag (Why was a child among those killed. We will also discuss where the drug supplies are coming from)," Duterte said.
Duterte, in his Sunday television program “Gikan sa Masa, Para sa Masa,” said he never anticipated that a child would be among those killed in such a raid.
"It's always a sad story. Some people are willing to take risk all because of the money. It (death) is possible, especially if you put up a fight with the authorities. Gikasubo nako diri kay isa sa mga namatay 14-years-old (What I regret is the death of a 14-year-old)," Duterte said.
CIDG regional director Senior Supt. Joel Pernito identified the fatalities as Dark Abdul Nawang, Runel Morguie, Bobby Solo, Faisal Abahe, Musa Sailama, Jamrel Sulame, and Wahid Saquili, all residents of Ilang.
Pernito earlier said an encounter ensued between the authorities and the suspects after the latter resisted arrest and put up a fight, which wounded one of their operatives. The wounded operative was saved because of his bullet-proof vest, he added.
Duterte also said he will visit the Korean who was one of the 35 suspects arrested on the raid. He added that the foreigner has the right to know about all his right for international law.
DCPO director Sr. Supt. Vicente Danao Jr. said most of the arrested and killed suspects were earlier subjected to "Tokhang" (Toktok, Hangyo), a campaign against illegal drugs by former city police director Senior Supt. Ronald dela M. Rosa.
The authorities have yet to file charges before the City Prosecution Office against the 35 alleged drug pushers and users, including a Korean national, today.
PDEA11 director Emerson Rosales said the suspects will be charged for violation of the Republic Act 9165 or The Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
