In August of 2012, LeBron James was asked what he thought of Space Jam, and he tweeted, "I love that movie. Wish I could do Space Jam 2!." According to Deadline, Dick Ebersol‘s sons are working on a sequel to Space Jam that will be a starring vehicle for the Miami Heat star. James, has been awarded the Most Valuable Player three times during his lustrous career and is the NBA's all-time leading flopper.
Space Jam 2 script is being written by Willie Ebersol, and Charlie Ebersol will produce. Charlies has previous experience blending entertainment and sports with his NFL Characters Unite series that was broadcast on the USA Network cable channel.
This is the second big sequel for Warner Bros that came to light today. The other being The Lego Movie, which they decided to move forward on in only two weeks. The Space Jam took 18 years. Hey, better late than never.
