Cebuano/Visayan Indies Pretentious?

I am in the possession of a series of emails on Cebuano/Visayan films I have been exchanging with one who is said to be a prize-winning film festival exhibitor; he or she has also posted several times on this Forum.

He or she said that there is no "serious filmmaker in Cebu" and that the so-called "Indies" are nothing more than a pretentious voice in this arena of filmmaking.

I, personally, did not quite like this generalization. But whether there is truth to this observation or not, it is up to you to comment. But I am not giving to you the name or nickname of this person.

I can only ask one thing back, what has he/she done? If going out and making films is "pretentious", then what is criticizing, hiding, and doing nothing called?

IMHO, we should not pay attention to these criticisms and just do whatever we've been doing. Let people think and say whatever they want, if they think we're pretentious so be it. anyway, we are not here to please everybody.

what matters is that we continue making films and continue showing them to the public, letting them know the existence of cebuano digital films.

Pretentious? I haven't seen any recent Cebuano Indie productions of late. Who are considered the best independent filmmakers in Cebu? Where can I view works that are most representative of the movement.
