Q: What if my Android device is not on the list above?
A: This list is not definitive, so you should perform an online search for your device name and USB OTG. Some devices, like Google Nexus 7 are USB OTG compatible for some peripheral devices, but not USB storage devices. These are not included on the list.
Q: Do I need a USB OTG connector?
A: If your device is USB OTG compatible, you next need to determine what connector is needed, if any. Do you see a full size USB port on your device? If so, then no connector is needed. Otherwise, you will need a special USB OTG connector. USB OTG connectors look like normal power connectors, but they are slightly different internally and allow USB OTG communication. There are two main types of USB OTG Connectors, a thin but wide 30 pin connector and a much smaller 5 pin connector. Be sure to look at your device to see the size and shape of the port so that the right connector is purchased.
Q: Why don’t my other encrypted flash drives work with Android?
A: The majority of encrypted flash drives in the marketplace use software for authentication, where a user must enter a password into software that resides on the flash drive. This software is not compatible with Android, so those drives are useless with Android and other mobile or embedded systems. LOK-IT, on the other hand, uses no software for authentication so it is just as flexible as a standard flash drive, but the contents on LOK-IT are completely encrypted and secure.
