    Default GPS Problem

    Hello fellow Istoryan…

Have questions regarding on my GPS. Hope you can help.

By the way, I’m using S2. I included a screenshot for the phone details http://i1361.photobucket.com/albums/...ps3430d9aa.jpg

I noticed that when I use my data, it is most likely pointing neat to my location but when I used MyFi (Sun Pocket WiFi), it is pointing to Lahug. By the way, it was my previous location for a month prior transferring to my current location.

I was thinking that this might be a Sun Cellular problem.

I hope anyone can help. Thanks.

It's not a network problem; it's just the way it is. Don't expect precision in cellular-based location services because it's not possible at this time. What you do is use the built-in GPS receiver in your phone + your WIFI service for faster triangulation.

The disparity between the two data providers is probably because Provider A has a greater number of cell sites near you than Provider B. In theory, you need at least three cell sites to pinpoint your location. The farther the distance between these sites to you, the lesser the accuracy becomes.

Yeah, it seems like your phone is using your network for location rather than the GPS. Check your location settings to ensure that the phone uses network and GPS for location. You could try getting the GPS Status - Test & Fix app from the Play Store to see how your GPS is performing.

    you mean Google Maps?
i haven't use Google maps for awhile pero ang idea is to download the maps (wifi) first before ka mo-travel.
para iyang ma-cache. naa man sad modded Google Maps pero hasol na kaayo.

naa man daghan sa Playstore free apps wherein you can use free OSM maps.
naay thread diri before on Android Gps and Maps here
    wait ako sa e-search

You can still use Google Maps without an active Internet connection. You just have to store that area of the map prior to offline usage by:

    1. Going to your map settings and enable "make available offline"
    2. Or dip fingers a few seconds on that specific area

Either way, you get this radius sort of thingy allowing you to select that area to save for offline viewing.

If you're into biking and want turn-by-turn voice instructions, I suggest having a look at OsmAnd+ (on Google Play). It's a whole bunch of "tools" and "maps" you can use for free.

If you want to explore places and alleys you've not been before, use mapmyride.com's router planner and export your route to OsmAnd+ manually. As mentioned, the app will tell you where and when to turn right or left. It's really a cool app.

Unfortunately, mapmyride can't help you if you're heading towards a one-way traffic, so be careful. It's also best to check out the route you've created before exporting, because once I failed to do that, and I headed directly towards a dead end

Yes, possible kaayo offline maps like Citi Maps 2go. You can download offline maps for almost all cities, around the world. I used it for domestic and abroad when travelling.
