MANILA, Philippines - Transportation Secretary Joseph Emilio Abaya expects the government to reach an agreement with Japanese contractor Takenaka this week for the completion of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3 (NAIA-3).
Takenaka was earlier awarded the NAIA-3 rehabilitation and completion project.
After an agreement has been finalized, Takenaka can start works on NAIA-3 and finish rehabilitation and completion efforts within 8 months.
Meanwhile, the NAIA Terminal 1 will undergo a major rehabilitation in the next 18 months.
Abaya said a new area for greeters and well-wishers will be constructed at the NAIA 1.
"Yung NAIA Terminal 1 may malaking rehab tayo jan. May gagawin tayong well-wishers and greeters area. Nakikita nating siguro within 18 months ang construction and rehab period nito," he said.
