I recommend the following books for Java programmers who want to learn design patterns:

1) Software Architecture Design Patterns in Java by Partha Kuchana (44 design patterns)

Caution: The word architecture in the title is misleading as there are no architectural patterns

2) Head First Design Patterns by Elisabeth Freeman

Note: I liked it except for the authors\' too chatty writing style. I still prefer the above book.
