That Make You Money!

Even if you have no sales or marketing background…

Fellow istoryans,

If you have something to sell -- whether it’s an old smart phone, 2-month-old puppies, 2nd-hand cars or apartment space, or anything at all…

This is the most important thread you will read today.

Because I’ll show you a fast, simple and easy way to write forum ads to make it easier for you to sell your item.

Why am I telling you this?

A few years ago when I was looking for a puppy to buy and have as a pet, I found it hard sifting through the many threads on dogs for sale.

At first, I did not know what breed I wanted. So I read almost all the recent “puppies for sale” threads.

Some of them didn’t have enough info on what they were selling. No proper means of contact. No details on the parents, etc…

After a while, I was able to choose the pet puppy that I wanted, but I had to do some research of my own, and a lot of texting, calling, asking about details that made the whole process tiresome.

Why should you listen to what I’m saying?

Because if you’re trying to sell something you obviously want to MAKE A SALE, right?

You don’t want to keep bumping your thread twice a day, 7 days a week, for months only to find out no one is actually reading your ad.

Some people may be interested in buying what you’re selling, but they’ll be turned off by how you present your ad.

Maybe you didn’t put enough info to persuade people into buying.

Maybe they don’t understand what you’re trying to sell.

Maybe they want to buy from you, but they don’t trust you yet. People might think you’re trying to scam them into something.

There have been scams here in istorya in the past, and people are weary in falling for these traps.

I can show you how I did my ad.

It’s very simple, you can even do it right now in just a few minutes.

Although I’m not an expert, and I only successfully sold just one item here on istorya… (it was one of our cars)

But from the comments I got both in the thread, as well as through texting with prospects, I realized that if everyone wrote ads like this here on istorya, everyone would have an easier time buying and selling.

So what to do?

Here’s a very easy formula. I didn’t invent this on my own, I learned this from someone else.

1. Here’s What I Got.
2. Here’s Why It’s Good For You.
3. Here’s What I Want You To Do Next.

Here’s What I Got

This is the part where you clearly state what you are trying to sell.

Are you selling German Shepherd puppies? A pre-owned 2006 Toyota VIOS? Wedding Organizer Services? Ngoihong? Multicab rentals?

This part is fairly easy and understandable, and I think most ads here in the buy/sell forum already do this. So next.

Here’s Why It’s Good For You

This is the best, and most important part.

This is where you convince people that they should buy from you, and only you.

Not from the other thread selling the same thing as you. Not from someone else.

YOU want them to buy from YOU. And you should tell them WHY.

First you list the “features” of what you’re selling. Then you talk about the benefits people will get if they buy your item.

For example, when I sold our 2006 Toyota VIOS, here’s some of the info I included:

• Year 2006 with a 1.5 engine (not like the Toyota VIOS taxis you see that mostly have 1.3 engines)

• Mileage as of Sep 17, 2012 is only just 60,500+ unlike most cars this age have almost double the mileage… (this car is only used for transportation to school and the office only, we use our other car for family trips)

• We are the first owners of this vehicle, which means it’s not been passed around from owner to owner.

• No broken headlights, windshields, mirrors etc… (so you won’t have anything to fix anymore, and no extra expenses)

• Fuel efficiency because of the manual transmission and front wheel drive. (the VIOS was called one of the most fuel-efficient cars during its entry)

There were more, but these examples should be enough.

Let’s try some random examples.

If I were selling a German Shepherd pup I’d say…

“The German Shepherd is known as one of the most loyal and smart breeds of all dogs in the world. If you treat them well, they will forever be your friend and guardian. They will protect you if there are intruders. They will comfort you and make you smile with their goofiness. They will always come to your side and want to follow you around. The sire and dam are both fed with raw chicken backbones and meats to make sure their health is optimal compared to artificial dog food. Both the sire and dam have been proven to be smart and very easy to train with basic dog obedience. The sire is a trained bomb sniffing dog, while the dam is trained in schutzhund. Bla bla bla”

If I were selling custom wedding organizer services, I would say…

“I will make sure your special day is as hassle free as it can get for you. Even though you’re still going to have butterflies in your stomach, I’ll make it as easy as possible. I’ve been known to be a group leader since I was in elementary school even up to now, and friends know me to be a strict leader, but I GET THINGS DONE PERFECTLY. I customize everything for your wedding down to the last detail so you won’t have a typical, traditional ‘mail order wedding’ but a unique, personalized moment in time. Bla bla bla”

This is also the part you add info like the price. Don’t make your price a secret.

You’ll get more calls if you hide it, but many of those calls will be unqualified leads and a lot of them might not be able to afford your price.

So add the price in your ad.

Got it? Easy right? Good. Next.

Here’s What I Want You To Do Next

This is the most CRUCIAL part.

Tell them exactly what you want them to do, and don’t make them guess.

“Call me on this cellphone number”

“Email me at…”

“Here’s my facebook, message me there…”

This is also where you add final reminders like:

“Direct buyers only…”

“No hagglers allowed. Hagglers will be shot. Survivors will be shot again.” LOL JK

Why Should I Write My Ads This Way?

There are two big reasons why.

One is to make it easier for people to understand and get the info about what you’re selling.

Second is so you can improve your “pitch” when you’re selling something.

Sure you can just list the info like a “laundry list” and be done with it.

But if you do it that way, you’re not making a good enough effort to entice people to buy your second-hand car… or your used furniture… or your dog stud services…

And if you don’t make a good enough effort, no one might buy from you.

And if no one buys from you, you might be stuck trying to bump your thread for months and months.

You don’t want that.

You want people to buy your stuff, so they’ll be happy, and you’ll be happy too. Because you made money!

To Sell Your Stuff

If you still want to sell your product, but don’t have the time or energy to write a good ad that grabs prospects and compels them to buy from you…

Items that are worth 5,000 - 49,999 pesos = Php 1,000

These include but are not limited to puppies, stud services, smartphones, computers, services, etc.

Items that are worth 50,000 – 99,999 pesos = Php 5,000

These include but are not limited to computers, furniture, services, etc…

Items that are worth 100,000 – 499,999 pesos = Php 10,000

These include but are not limited to cars, motorcycles, electronics, appliances, etc…

So if you want me to write an ad for you that targets the RIGHT prospect and helps you get a sale compared to just listing a laundry list of descriptions…
